Glory Through Suffering

Romans 5:3-5 “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

The Christian life has it’s share of suffering, but our mindset is focused on the development of our character through that suffering. It is all about become more and more like Jesus, right? We have to let go of some things in order to do that. We have to surrender our own agendas, attitudes, and entitlements in order to become who God is calling us to be. It’s a process, and the only way to become mature and strong in our characters is to go through things.

I don’t mean just survive things, come out the other side alive. No, it’s not about surviving, it about coming out stronger, smarter, wiser, more like Christ. It’s about allowing God to shape you and remove things from your mind and heart that don’t belong there, so the beauty of who he created you to be can shine through.
